Mar-08-05  rndapology: Whoa...what happened here? Obviously taking the pawn was an error. I wonder if Vladimirov was tired or drunk, his rating is fairly high.
Mar-08-05  soberknight: A study-like ending: Black's rook is trapped, but White's rook cannot stay on the b-file: 24 Rb4 Qa5 25 Rb7 Nc5. <I wonder if Vladimirovic was tired or drunk> Probably tired. That opening put me to sleep.
Jan-03-06  blingice: This is Hydra's shortest game. <soberknight>, why couldn't, after 24..♕a5, White move 25. ♗c3?
Jan-03-06  psmith: <blingice> 25...Rxc3
Jan-25-06  blitzermat: ha ha this is nice. If 24.Rb4 Rxg3+!
25.fxg3 Qc5+ collects the Rook!
Jan-25-06  blitzermat: you guys are all missing 24...Rxg3 check!
(after 24.Rb4)
which allows black to squiggle out a piece ahead. 24...Qa5? is way too slow and allows 25. Rb7, surviving.
Mar-21-06  notyetagm: <blitzermat: ha ha this is nice. If 24.Rb4 Rxg3+! 25.fxg3 Qc5+ collects the Rook!>

Nice.

The problem with White's tactical idea of trapping the Black f3-rook is that he cannot play 24 ♖b4 in response to 23 ... a6 because it lines up this undefended rook with the White g1-king through the forking square c5.

Mar-21-06  notyetagm: 24 ♖b4 ♖xg3+! 25 fxg3 ♕c5+
