May-20-06  yukhtman: This game is obviously a fake. Does anyone know the story behind it?
Apr-23-21  jerseybob: <yukhtman: This game is obviously a fake....> Let's explore other alternatives shall we? I can't find this game in any database, but Stockfish recommends 13..Qb4 instead of 13..Qb5?? Aside from that it looks like a Yuchtman game.

sachistu: <jerseybob> 13...Qb4 was in fact the move played in the game. 13...Qb5 is a clear typo from Chessbase. The game is given in Shakhmatny Bulletin, 1957, Issue #5, p142. The rest of the game is as given here, although in the interest of full disclosure, SB had a typo on move 39 (e.g. dxe6); the Bulletin had the obvious typo 39.fe.

I'll submit a correction slip.

I do not profess to be an expert in Russian, but I'm a little surprised at the spelling 'Yuchtman'. Based on the letter 'x' in the Russian Bulletin text, it seems this should be 'Yukhtman'. Note: the same 'x' appears in Sakharov's name and it is spelled 'Sakharov' not 'Sacharov' ( although I certainly have seen it listed that way in some Western periodicals).

By the way, the site has another mistake in listing 'Yuchtman-Sakharov' for the same event (this time ECO A07, with Black winning). I don't have a confirming source score and pairing, but I believe Black was V.S. Antoshin. This seems consistent with the cross table and the player pairings for Antoshin.
