Jun-27-05  sfm: Was 39.♔d3 a losing blunder? Did he really intend to place it on d4 and dropped it on the wrong square in time pressure?

  Tabanus: <sfm> Could be!

At move 25, Olafsson had 3 minutes left on the clock and Larsen had 10 (De Telegraaf 13 Jan. 1961 p. 13).

woldsmandriffield: Olafsson had chances to save the game until late on.

The most straightforward was 81 Rh6 Ra5 82 Kg2 leaving Larsen with little or no prospects of a win.

The great Danish champion could have nailed it with 82..Kd2 but it was tough for Olafsson to find 84 Rb1! which draws thanks to the loose Re7.
