Feb-08-05  Andrew Chapman: Is the game score right? 41.Nxb5!

chessgames.com: This score can't be right; if anybody finds the right moves let us know. Just a thought: maybe the c-pawn was somehow missing, so that 41...Rc8 pinned the knight and explains 42.Kd2?
Feb-10-05  acirce: Then of course 42.Nxb5 or 42.Rxc7 is possible anyway.

I think the game makes much more sense assuming 36.Ne3 instead of 36.Nc3. For example, as it is even 38.Nxb5! is possible (38..Rxb5 39.Rc8#). Several other moves look much more natural if the knight's on e3 as well. Then it returns to d1 from e3 instead of c3 in move 45. 36.Nf2 is possible too but 36.Ne3 looks more natural so that is what I would have guessed.

Feb-10-05  aw1988: Heh, invalid chessgames scores tend to turn into sessions of retrograde analysis. :-)
