Apr-26-05  takeithome: The authorities have commended 40. ♘e6 although Black is still kicking, or maybe still holding the edge.
Apr-07-06  EmperorAtahualpa: 47...Bd6! Very clever move.
Aug-04-07  sanyas: White holds easily after 42.♘e6, and 46.♖h2 may well have saved him.

Jul-21-14  Ke2: Even in the closed positions Morphy screams "I'm attacking"
Oct-19-14  Ke2: 4... a5!
Jan-01-20  Carrots and Pizza: < Ke2: 4... a5!>

My thoughts exactly. Then Morphy puts his LSB on b7 and suddenly it looks like Nimzovich is playing black!

Morphy was no great genius when it came to closed positions. Even against Mongredien, who is nowhere near Morphy's strength, he barely managed to maintain equality for some 40 moves, shuffling his pieces around behind his pawns.
