plang: 4..a6 ia about as hypermodern as you can get. 10..Nh6 (as opposed to 10..Ne7) seems to be taking it a bit too far; Lanka could have obtained a dangerous initiative with 11 d5. McDonald gives the line 18..ef 19 e6..fe 20 de..Ne6 21 Ne6..Be6 22 Bh6..f4 23 g4..fg 24 Qg3..Bh6 25 Bg6..Re7 26 Bf7+..Kh8 27 Be6..Re6 as leading to an advantage for black. 18..Nf5 is an error leading to a loss of a piece. 22 Na4 (keeping the c pawn) would have better than 22 Bc2. 26 Rc6 was a time pressure blunder leading to a black advantage. 28 Ng5 was another error which hastened the defeat. 33..Qd2 34 Qb7..Be5 35 Qc8+..Kh7 with mate on h2 would have been a prettier finish.
