May-10-08  astaub: The incorrect move here appears to be 28 ...Nc5.I worked with this position with ChessMaster 9000 playing at about 2600 strength. It appears Black should interpolate 28 ...Bb3 29 ab and then 29... Nc5.

After 28 ... Nc5 29 Bd5 ed 30 Qd5+ Kh8
leaves White a pawn ahead. The computer program gives 28 ... b4 29 Re6 Ne6 30 Re1 Rc6 31 Qe4 Kh8 32 Bc6 Rc6 33 Qb4 Qb4 34 cb leaving White two pawns up.

Nov-09-23  Brenin: <astaub>: 29 Bxd5 exd5 30 Qxd5+ Kh8 31 Qd8+ Rxd8 (Bf8 32 Be3) 32 Rxd8+ Bf8 33 Rxf8+ Kg7 34 Ree8 Re7 35 Rg8+ Kf7 36 Ref8+ Ke6 37 Rf6+ and 38 Rxb6 wins.
Nov-09-23  Brenin: Perhaps Black's best response to 29 Bxd5 is the cowardly-looking 29 ... Kh8, leaving White with Q and B both en prise. If the Q moves, e.g. 29 Qe2, then the recapture exd5 is now safe, and Black has lost just a P after 30 Rxd5. However, instead of moving the Q White could pin the N attacking it with 29 Be3, leading to interesting complications, e.g. 29 ... Nxd3 30 Bxb6 exd5 31 Rxd3 leaving White a piece up.

al wazir: As black I would have played on for a few more moves.
Nov-09-23  mel gibson: I didn't see that today.

Nov-09-23  TheaN: For way too long I thought Nxd3 was check. After that left my brain, the combo is relatively straightforward.
