Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-04-06  aw1988: <and my opponent
actually thought he was winning in the opening>

No offense to Keene, but this is one of the worst verdicts I've ever seen. Maybe Morriss saw something I haven't, but to me White's in terrible shape anyway, and e6 isn't such a hard move to find.

Apr-19-06  Lightupmyknife: Yes, but the next 4 move are.
Quick TRANSFORMATIONS which leave
the newbie reeling.
'Weren't we playing an open game?'
'Why is he suddenly closing things up?'

Ah, but he's not! He's still prepared to OPEN the position (13...f5!!).

I realize Keene makes it look easy sometimes. It was about seeing a move (10...Nc6!) which contained a
DOUBLE threat (...Nxd4;...Nb4!) which
nabbed a rather important bishop, leaving White with a pawn of a bishop on e3. We're seeing superlative TECHNIQUE here in many of these games.
And good Chess is....?

That's right. Good technique!

Nov-17-06  thegoodanarchist: Haha! I love to see unjustified aggression get punished.
