Jul-06-07  Cuellargacharna: Why not .28kc3++?
Does anyone know?
Any anecdotes about it?
Dec-05-07  Cuellargacharna: I meant .28kc2++.
Sorry.
Jan-01-22  Knightmare07: Good question, I wonder the same.

  Honza Cervenka: Well, sometimes, when you see a clearly winning forced continuation, you can easily miss a better one. Especially if you are short of time with some 12 moves to do to reach the first time control. 28...Qxc3+ 29.Kb1 Nc2 attacking the white Queen and threatening with Na3# wins instantly, and if you see it, you are not much looking for something better. I guess that Ms. Eretova did not expect to see 28.bxc3 be played waitning rather for 28.Qd2, where black has a pretty winning line 28...Nc2+ 29.Kb1 d4! (preparing 30...Qb5 and 31...Na3+ 32.Ka1 Rc2) 30.Rc1 Na3+ 31.Ka1 Rxc1+ 32.Qxc1 Qe1! 33.Qxe1 Nc2+ 34.Kb1 Nxe1 etc., though simple retreat of the Rook is good enough, as Qxb4 runs into a fork on c2.

  keypusher: After 26....Rxc3 White does better to recapture with the pawn: 27.bc Rxc3 28.Qd2 and Black has nothing better than 28....Nb3+ 29.ab Qa3+ 30.Kb1 Rxb3+ 31.Kc2 Rb2+, etc. with a winning ending.
