 | | LIFE Master AJ: <Robin01> "He should have just played 12...axb5 or 12...Ne5. Looks like blacks game is fine after that." I feel White might have a slight edge, but it is certainly nothing more than a "Plus-over-an-equal-sign" (Would you agree with that?) |
|
Jan-09-06 | | Robin01: I am not completely sure. I do not have time to analyze this game right now, but it sure looks like black has pretty much equalized here. |

I feel White might have a slight edge, but it is certainly nothing more than a "Plus-over-an-equal-sign" (Would you agree with that?)> Objectively speaking you could easily admit that after 12...Ne5 you would have lost the initiative with the white pieces. |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: After your (first) suggestion of 12...axb5; Fritz awards White a fairly solid edge. (Around 35/100 of a point.) Its hard to argue with a machine. |

12...Ne5 13.Nd4 0-0 14.f4 Ng6 15.Bd3 e5 16.fxe5 Nxe5
Fritz 8 awards an evaluation of - 1.12
Even harder to argue with a machine when it assists human strategical thought. |
|
Jan-09-06 | | Dres1: Hmmm, this is a pretty basic error... one that you may expect out of a blitz game or something.. i dont think having several long games before this is a valid excuse for missing it. |
|
Jan-09-06 | | Robin01: <hayton3> Thanks for the input. |
|
Jan-09-06 | | Stefan Lukke: <hayton3> you gave good concrete constructive criticism I thought. I employ the French although I don't personally admire the line in this game. I much prefer the set-up <Rama> suggested. Also after an ...f6 is played in French Advance positions White can allow ...fxe5 in the pursuit of a stronghold on e5 after Nxe5. Then the game revolves around the square e5. Not sure on the move order though, I'll have a look at my board when I get home... Interesting game. |
|
Jan-09-06 | | hayton3: <Stefan Lukke> Glad it was useful - what is the set up you refer to? - Catch me on the Hayton3 forum if you wish. |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: < <Dres1> "Hmmm, this is a pretty basic error... one that you may expect out of a blitz game or something.. i dont think having several long games before this is a valid excuse for missing it." > I take this to mean that you have never made an error in one of your tournament games? |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: You must be a 2700+ GM! (If so, I would like to take lessons from you! It would nice to be able to eliminate all the errors from my games!!) |
|
Jan-09-06 | | hayton3: <LIFE Master AJ> <It would nice to be able to eliminate all the errors from my games!!> Instead of fantasising about playing against Tal while he was drunk, and only losing on time, you ought to study the games of Karpov. Why? Because your strategical chess is shocking - the ZX Spectrum 48K has better postional sense than you. |
|
Jan-09-06 | | Dres1: I make errors of course.. but not this blatant.. i mean, if there is a forced tactical sequence this clear.. i take he takes i take.. i usuall look at it before i make a move. This one is crystal clear in my opinion, and when i have relatively unlimited time to look at it, no i would not miss this. |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: <Dres1> OK. What's your USCF rating? |
|
Jan-09-06 | | midknightblue: He is a "life master."
nyuck, nyuck, nyuck |
|
Jan-10-06 | | Dres1: Im not a life master.. im not trying to say i dont make mistakes. My rating is 1964, and i dont think i would miss a one dimentional line of captures.. where one capture with check is gonna win a piece here. If you look at this position, you will see that you capture with check.. its not so hard man, why are you all acting like this is some sort of fantastic combo?? |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: <Dres1> Its a nice trap, maybe that's about it. |
|
Feb-22-11 | | hedgeh0g: It's about as much of a trap as playing 1.e4 e5 2.Qh5 and following up with Bc4. Pawn capture intermezzos are thematic in chess and it's hard to believe any decent player would miss it in under normal time controls. |
|
Feb-22-11 | | Kazzak: Brent Inman has six games on cg, five of which are peculiar losses to the Life Master.
Why is the database being corrupted with these nonsense vanity dumps? |

Feb-22-11 | | TheFocus: <Kazzak>< Brent Inman has six games on cg, five of which are peculiar losses to the Life Master. Why is the database being corrupted with these nonsense vanity dumps?> I ask myself that same question every time I see one of these butcherings of some poor Class ZZZ player. What is the point? That a master can beat a fish?
I would personally be ashamed if I ever had a game like these posted. I don't even remember ever playing anyone under 1200. |

 | | perfidious: The instructional value of this game should be obvious: anyone can make an error in calculation. <My opponent analyzed for some time. I am pretty sure he only looked at the BxB/a3 move, and probably missed PxN/c6, (with the idea of taking on d7 next with check).
Of course, this cost Black a piece ... and probably why he resigned.> The truth is that, facing even the slightest of disadvantages at the hands of the <Life Baiter>, it's all up with you. A whole piece is a fate worse than death. Another display of sheer genius by <The. Greatest. Player. Ever.> |
