Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-31-06  DeepBlade: Atalik is really a Queensider!
Jan-31-06  Matein42: S.Atalik played the whole corus tourny very well even though he out-rated everyone in his group by atleast 100 points. Besides that he played this game very strong he controlled the tempo of the game and now the passed pawn/and two bishops with an easy win
Jan-31-06  DeepBlade: Ive never seen Atalik play f4 in the opening.

True, Atalik dominated the Corus C class. Some managed to draw against him, but he never lost.

Apr-03-06  patzer2: Atalik demonstrates a very strong and practical method for White in beating the Benko gambit. He accepts the gambit pawn and establishes a dominating Queenside presence with pawns on a4, b3, d5 and e4.

After the deflection 25. Bc6! and the pawn break 26. b4!, Afek's Benko is positionally and tactically crushed.

In the final position, White's threat of 31. Qb6 Nf6 (31...f5 32. Bxe8) 32. Ba5 compels Black's resignation.

Apr-03-06  patzer2: Perhaps 13...Ng4 as in M Sebenik vs J M Lopez-Martinez, 2006 would have enabled Black to hold the position.
