Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-13-06  ongyj: I thought this young girl simply outplayed her much higher-rated opponent. chessbase.com truly got it right when they did a minor mentioning of her in one of the very old articles. Certainly has the calibre to become one of those few lady GMs(not WGM, but 'real' GM) It won't be a surprise if she makes it close or even to the final rounds...
Mar-13-06  twinlark: Yifan Hou defended superbly to draw the second game and eliminate her opponent from the competition.
Mar-14-06  twinlark: The dance of the White Knights in this game is extraordinary. 16 of White's first 40 moves are Knight moves, 12 of them between moves 20 and 40.

Is it true that Knights are the hardest pieces to master? Yifan Hou makes it look easy.

Mar-28-06  ReikiMaster: Yes indeed. 12-year old Hou defeated two opponents and her performance for the tournament was rated at 2504. As for black, maybe 29...g6!?
Sep-03-06  Johannes: I cannot believe she's only 12 and has a 2500 rating. She's bigger than magnus carlsen for godsakes!
Feb-28-07  adrian2: How far can this girl really go? Anyone know why she represents Qatar?
Feb-28-07  slomarko: she represents China, you've probably mixed her with Chen.
