Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-19-06  shr0pshire: I think that Yelena's trouble in the opening causes her long term damage throughout the game.

11. g3 this is pretty transparent, and doesn't do much to protect her king in the long run and only creates weaknesses on her kingside.

12. h4. black's dark squared bishop is still strong stopping white from castling on the queen side, and now white's kingside pawns are weakened without much to show for it.

So now white's king is forced in the center for the short term, and allows this time for black to set up an attack based on the partially open C file, and I feel this is where the game was decided.

White should have looked at this game: M Thinius vs Naiditsch, 2004 Where white castled kingside and had a pretty even game, but ended up winning the endgame.

Mar-19-06  SniperOnG7: Am i ignorant but i thought that in these dynamic positions, if White allows Black to force his e-pawn onto d5 it will be a relatively easier game for Black? If so, why do i constantly see such voluntary willingness?
Mar-21-06  AlexandraThess: Carolina shows here enviable coolness in punishing her opponent's mistakes!
Jul-18-06  e4Newman: <Carolina shows here enviable coolness in punishing her opponent's mistakes!>

apparently stronger opponent, too
