For those who might be offended by anything in this message, I have no feelings in support of anything Milosevic was involved in. He was a brutal dictator and the world should never forget that. He avoided true justice and those who died in what was Yugoslavia were deprived of that justice. Back to the chess. I love the use of the kingside pawns there. Nf5 didnt help White. It was Rapid though. Time trouble perhaps? |

| | LIFE Master AJ: SLOBO - A private joke, between my friend, Stephen Davis and I. (Steve has been a stalwart member of our chess club for probably more than 25 years.) Basically, what it means is, "Big deal!" A touch of sarcasm, here. We call this, <<Breaking out "SLOBO.">> To further illustrate, Aronian plays 9.Ne5!!!!!!!!! He says, in effect, << "I occupy the center!!! I grab my OUTPOST! If you take, you lose at least a Pawn. RESIGN, you patzer, you are crushed!" >> Ivanchuk, responds, "So what? You took your outpost, I will just do the same." To every one of Aronian's flamboyant moves, Ivanchuk calmly repsonds ... and just continues to place his pieces on good squares. In the end, Aronian is defeated ... without any real fireworks. (All joking aside, its an impressive display of talent by Ivanchuk!) |

At this level that we play at, we shouldnt be so worried. If I remember rightly Lasker is someone to look to in terms of the psychological aspects of the game. |
