GrahamClayton: White's 23rd move would make a nice puzzle of the day.

fredthebear: Sokolsky was a Polish Opening specialist. Had Black accepted the queen sacrifice 23...BxQh4, White's raking bishops will support mate-in-three by the invading rook. This final arrangement accounts for the strange middlegame, setting up the crossfire of bishops on the diagonals and heavy pieces on the half-open kingside files.
