An Englishman: Good Evening: Black has played very well in this game from our Opening of the Day, but his last move looks a little too extravagant to me--and yet it compelled White's immediate resignation. Does anyone have idea why?
May-31-07  whiteshark: Good morning to <An Englishman>

White is lost. The protection of e4 was an illusion.
After <30. Rxe4 Nxe4> :

a) 31. Kxe4 Rxd5 32. Kxd5 Qb7+ lose queen
b) Other Q/K moves on 32nd aren't better regarding threat 32... Rd3 c) After other 31st moves, e.g. 31. Rd1 black retrieves his Knight

and white is 3 pawns down in a desolate position in a cc game.

An Englishman: Good Morning: Nice work, <whiteshark>. This is an even better game than I originally thought.
