Sep-13-07 | | you vs yourself: <chess eric> You think so? To me, it seems that rook can do much more in the center and possibly even more if it can go to the 7th rank. Don't see how it is useful on the h-file. |
Sep-13-07 | | chessic eric: <you vs yourself> Well, there are some tactics down the h-file if the dark-squared bishop exchanges on d4, as noted by <jeremy24> below. Kg2 is definitely a useful move to make the h1 rook more active, but it's got considerable real estate as it stands. |

Sep-13-07 | | Marmot PFL: Once a4 falls it looks like a draw, unless Moro can do something with the more active king. |

Sep-13-07 | | XMarxT3hSpot: It's a draw.
But I really enjoy this game. Like for example, how Moro choosed 7. e3 line instead of the more popular 7. Qc2 8. e4, later he opened the h-file and playing actively. And I like that Moro didn't make blunder here. He seemed kinda more stabilized.. |
Sep-14-07 | | euripides: It certainly doesn't look as if Morozevich was playing for a draw in this game. The Petrosian is one of the most aggressive systems against the QID. 7.Bd2 or 7.Qc2 and 8.Bd2 are also interesting. Dreev has played some good games in the Petrosian including this h5 hack: Dreev vs Sax, 1992 |
Sep-14-07 | | euripides: <conserving energy> I was never a great footballer, but I once had the honour of representing my school's under-9 team. Being a reasonably sophisticated type, I had noticed in the newspapers that the Leeds midfield, whom I then supported, were praised for conserving energy. Playing at right-half myself, I decided that this was a good idea. Unfortunately, my colleagues' more frenetic efforts cost the team dearly and we lost 12-0. |
Sep-15-07 | | switch: What was the idea behind 21.Kf1? Why not 21.0-0 or 21.Ke2 to get the rook on h1 into the game? |
Sep-15-07
 | | keypusher: <switch> The rook is already in play. That was the point of h4-h5-hxg6. |
