Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-24-07  dabearsrock1010: very instructive endgame
Nov-25-07  virginmind: it's all about calculus power in a short time.
Nov-25-07  dabearsrock1010: <virginmind> lol what? calculus power? like derivatives and integrals?
Nov-26-07  dixi82: He probably means calculation.
Nov-26-07  virginmind: yes, he meant calculation. english is not his mother tongue.
Nov-26-07  dabearsrock1010: yeah i know i was just kidding around
Nov-26-07  Jim Bartle: Yes, but many, many native English speakers say "differential" when they mean "difference." Especially sportscasters.
Nov-26-07  black knight c6: Haha nice exception to the rule that a bishop *generally* a bit better than a knight, because of its range. Here all white's pawns are safely guarded on the kingside and the bishop has almost nothing to do apart from sit back and watch white's knight roam around the board.

Black needed his bishop on c4 to keep his two queenside pawns, as well as be able to guard against a protected b3 kicking it.

White's knight proves to be an extremely good blockader against the d5 pawn, as well as harrass black's king and his pawns.
