Sep-13-12  Abdel Irada: What an execrable debacle for Klem. He needed to play far more energetically in the opening to seek compensation for his gambit pawn ... but as the game went, that soon proved to be the least of his problems.

perfidious: This game reminds one of the aphorism: In a gambit, you give up a pawn for the sake of a lost game. Black didn't stop with a mere pawn, however!
Sep-13-12  Shams: Fishy opening choice from Black. Given White's impressive ELO I'd have steered for calmer waters.

perfidious: <Shams> The paradox is that against a positional player, moreover one much stronger than oneself, trying to fight on that battleground will get the weaker player nowhere; it was a problem I ran into in most of my own games against titled players. From a psychological point of view, mixing it up isn't a bad way to go, the more so if that is one's natural style.
Sep-13-12  wildrookie: Why didn't Bukal take the rook with his bishop?
Sep-13-12  Calar: Probably because he didn't want to give his strong and annoying bishop for passive Black rook. He judged piece activity to be more important then material.
Sep-13-12  Shams: <perfidious> I confess, my comment was a gratuitous pun and nothing more.

offramp: <Abdel Irada: What an execrable debacle> That is a perfect description of Black's silly of play.
