Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-17-08  whiteshark: If it was black's task to get a draw, he fulfilled it in due form.
Mar-17-08  percyblakeney: A game like this almost counts as a win against Anand in rapid chess. Topalov got a clear advantage with black but with little time left he took the draw. Otherwise he could have won a pawn with 47. ... Rxe1 48. Nxe1 Ra1 49. Kb2 Bd4+ 50. Ka3 Bxf2 but it may not lead to more than a draw anyway.
Mar-17-08  slomarko: kinda weird seeing Topalov playing Caro-Kann
Mar-17-08  kingsindian2006: have to love topa's and anand's draws, usually as entertaining as a won game.
Mar-18-08  positionalgenius: Since when does topalov play the caro-kann?

An Englishman: Good Evening: Research into the CG collection of Topalov's games reveals that he plays my beloved C-K in little bursts every 5 five years: 1998 has one game, 2003 has 3, and now he's playing 1...c6 again.

Which is very odd, when you think on it. Incidentally, his results have proven quite satisfactory.

Mar-18-08  Topista: the one of 1998 is maybe against gazza himself...
Mar-18-08  Bobsterman3000: <you vs yourself> Good point!
Mar-18-08  Alex Patkowski: very interesting game.
Mar-18-08  positionalgenius: <youvsyourself> True
