Kibitzer's Corner
May-20-08  parmetd: whats with the illegal move?
May-20-08  Gilmoy: Must be a slip 'twixt the scoresheet and the PGN. It clearly should be 38.b3, as White later plays 41.b4. Also, that explains 39..Rb3 (attacking it) 40.Rb1 (defending it).
May-21-08  pawn to QB4: Spot on, Gilmoy. I sent this one in - must be my goof. 38.b3 it is - found it on the Sheffield website. Anyway, the Woodhouse cup has been decided for the last few years largely by the York-Sheffield match, and here's Ledger setting up his side for their first win in some years. Ledger-Palliser is the highlight of the match, and I believe this was revenge for a previous win by IM Palliser in the equivalent fixture. Quick mention for Sheffield's captain Jeremy Hamm, who turned out all season on bottom board scoring 11-0; I mentioned to Ledger that this was the first 11-0 I'd come across since Fischer at the US Championship; he pointed out that it was still more impressive, as Fischer hadn't had the burden of captaincy.
May-21-08  parmetd: I figured it was b3 was just curious cause the last time I viewed this game I didn't recall there being an error on the notation sheet.

Anyways QB4 captaincy ?
