Sep-14-10  cehertan: Maybe Larry will think I'm nuts again (see comments to our other draw), but surely black was a bit better here on 29...Kg8. A case of respect for the title! Interesting opening.

IMlday: I thought you had craftily sucked me into the predictable but awkward 6.Qe2+ and after 6..Kf8! which I hadn't considered, Black was better all the way through until you missed the mangly 28..Rh4! and let me out. Time control at 30 might have been a factor.
Sep-16-10  cehertan: Hmm, 28...Rh4 with ideas of ...Rxh3!?, very intriguing, I don't think I considered it. I was just thinking I could keep a small edge by arranging to take on d5 at the right moment. Now that you mention it, I do recall some time issues too. Neat idea!
Sep-16-10  Jim Bartle: A players' post-mortem after 30 years. Some kind of record.

chancho: I seem to remember that John Curdo was disgusted with what happened to him here:

C Hertan vs J Curdo, 1987

He called it a "helpmate."

profK: 29...g6 is quite playable, but black obviously wants the non brave draw !!!
