Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-11-08  OneArmedScissor: Sergei Tiviakov: cool, calm, and collective.
Sep-11-08  Shams: so you're saying this was a consultation game?
Sep-18-08  OneArmedScissor: Umm... what? I made that statement with regards to Tiviakov's style of play.
Sep-23-08  Shams: <OneArmedScissor> the word you wanted was, I think, "collected". :)
Sep-29-11  qqdos: <the Sniper> This game marked the inauguration of the Storey Gambit - 4...c5! See Charlie Storey's 2011 book "the Sniper", pp.13 & 91 - an all-purpose defence for Black based on the moves ...g6, ...Bg7, ...c5. Charlie identifies 22...Ra5? as his "beginner's error" attributable to over-excitement! Upto this point, he felt he had out-played a 2600 GM and noted opening theorist. Instead he should have played the simple and logical move 22...Rd7!, which would have yielded Black a clear advantage. Judge for yourselves. Charlie admits that "his" gambit was anticipated many years ago by GM's Gulko & Razuvaev. Maybe Gulko will decide to give it a further airing against Vishy(?!). By the way <Shams> I rather like <OAS's> "cool, calm and collective".
