  Gottschalk: Equal after 35 .g3 f5 36.Nf2 or 35...h4 36.Nf2 (Rxh4?, f5!wins)
Apr-16-14  whiteshark: <Gottschalk> Elwert said only <34...Qe5 35. g3 h4! >

Your 36. Nf2 loses due to 36... hxg3 (37.Rxd4 Qxd4 and Nf2 is pinned)

Apr-16-14  AsosLight: Andersson simply destroyed. He had better to propose draw in move 2 :)
Apr-16-14  whiteshark: <AsosLight: Andersson simply destroyed. He had better to propose draw in move 2 :)> That would probably have been the best thing. ;)

Actually White offered a draw after <25.Qc1>.

"It was rather tempting to have an easy draw with black against the favorite of the tournament, but the open d-file and some ideas to activate my pieces told me to play on. [25.Qxf5 Rxd2 26.R3e2 Red8 27.Rxd2 Rxd2 28.b3 Qd8 with a nice position for black.] " -Elwert

Apr-16-14  mrbasso: How could the drawmaster be favorite of the tournament? He even drew my 2080 rated teammate a couple of years ago.
Apr-16-14  whiteshark: <mrbasso> This was a correspondence game and Uffe was once one of the strongest cc players, too.

perfidious: Here is a nice CC effort from the 'drawmaster': G Timmerman vs Ulf Andersson, 1994.

Gottschalk: My apologies to all, I was wrong.
Objectively speaking, even if were possible to keep the Knight in exchange for three pawns, white king is insecure and the black pieces are nearby, well arranged with good mobility. That is, Black are winning in any case. I think that origin of inferiority goes back to the move 25.Qc1, positionally weak, but avoids exchanges that lead to the path of the draw. 24.Bf5!, 30.h5! and 33.Nxf4! were very strong moves.
All Kibitz were interesting and I could learn a bit more. Thank you.
Apr-18-14  Wyatt Gwyon: Bad day at the office for Ulf. This isn't the sort of game he would be expected to have trouble with.
