Feb-03-09 | | slomarko: why would white play 52.Rc7? instead 52.Qg6 Kf8 53.Kg4! click for larger view seems to be winning for white rather easily. |
Feb-03-09 | | kackhander: since you're such a fantastic player slomarko isn't it rather galling that your only tangible involvement with top level chess is making bitchy comments on the internet about people who don't know or care that you even exist? |
Feb-03-09 | | slomarko: what does galling mean? i have never seen this word before. |
Feb-03-09 | | kackhander: i'm sure a man of your intellect can locate a dictionary. |

Feb-03-09 | | walker: Lets make this <The Unofficial Nigel Short Page> ::))
He has banned a number of people from his "official" page, where he is supposed only to be adored. |

 | | chancho: When you have the brass ring so close within your grasp and it's suddenly taken from you, the dismay can last for quite a while. |
Feb-03-09 | | walker: IMHO...he is finished. Well, he may write a book about Kamsky's father, or about Karjakin's crash, or about the collaboaration with the Iranians, or about... not shaking(or shaking) hands with different players...but as a chess figure he is finished. A pawn that had a dream to become a piece....and was kicked out of the board. So sad! |

What comment? Please give a link! |
Feb-04-09 | | Jim Bartle: I don't remember anybody being banned from Short's page, but I remember him being irritated when kibitzers continued referring to him as Nosher after he'd asked them not to. |
Feb-04-09 | | truefriends: At the dutch chesssite www.schakers.info (in Dutch) it is stated that Short himself said to the Dutch IM Hans Bohm he did NOT want to promote to the A-group cause he can make more money by finishing with a high score in the B-group than scoring about 50% in the A-group. People playing chess only for money and not for the love of the game should NOT be invited to mayor tournaments IMHO. |

Feb-04-09 | | Karpova: <walker: < walker is still smarting from short's comment about petrosian, that's what this is about.> What comment?> The following one from Nigel Short's column in "The Sunday Telegraph", 2004.06.20: <Despite numerous subsequent attempts to reach an intellectual appreciation of his chess qualities (I have eight biographies of him), I have never succeeded in thinking of Petrosian as being anything other than an exceptionally rude, ignorant, Caucasian peasant. However, the Armenians love him; small nations cannot afford the luxury of being too pernickety with their heroes, and I will not begrudge them their pleasures.> Link: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/... |

Feb-04-09 | | kackhander: walker knows very well "what comment". |
Feb-04-09 | | walker: Thanks <Karpova>! I haven't read that article. Well...Short is Short...
Some people think I am Armenian. I am not.

Feb-04-09 | | walker: <Jim> When I tryied to post over there
I got this:
<ERROR: You cannot post to this player page.
You are being ignored by Nigel Short.>
Short needs to be adored, not critisized. |
Feb-04-09 | | Jim Bartle: Sort of like me for quite a few far-right youtube videos. |
Feb-04-09 | | Takya Kotov: I actually thought that this was a very entertaining game. Apparently very few others did, judging by the trivial bitchiness going on here. |
Feb-04-09 | | seaotter: I liked the game too, and was following it very closely as well as the Volotkin game. When Volotkitin (sorry about spelling) lost I thought, ok offer a draw and WIN the Tournament,... Hurrah!!! Then I really did not understand what was going on,.. perhaps a 2700+ player just sees it different,... But a draw to win the tournament and you are clearly better and your opponent is down on time? Go Figure. I do not get it, but that is probably why I will remain a Want-to-Be Master all my life,... As I said, Too DEEP for me,... |
Feb-04-09 | | walker: <As I said, Too DEEP for me,...> also for the loser...deep, deep for him too.. |
Feb-04-09 | | blacksburg: <You are being ignored by Nigel Short.> you're being ignored by a lot of other people too. |
