chancho: Where there is a Danailov, anything is possible.
Feb-23-09  Marmot PFL: 7.Nxc6 Bxc6 8.Bxc6+ bc6 9.c4 Bc5 is a likely position.
Feb-23-09  reyjf: Why didn't Gata play 5. e5 then 6. d4? for strong center.
Feb-23-09  eisenherz: <Nigel Short: Sorry, I am a little bit out of it today. Kamsky playing the French? Well, who would have Adam and Eved it? Interesting development> Good question, but Kamsky is really playing black. One could see he moving e6 on the video broadcast.
Feb-23-09  popski: CG: \o/ fair enough! :)
Feb-23-09  hoodrobin: Chiao Ivan !
Feb-23-09  Marmot PFL: <Nigel Short> 3.e5 is boring. Tarrasch usually much more lively.
Feb-23-09  badest: Haha ... you all missed FIDE-regulation 3349f: "When Mr. Topalov loses a game in a match, the next game he should *always* play white." ;)
Feb-23-09  ajile: Looks like Kamsky has developed his "problem bishop" with no loss of time. What is Topa doing here?
Feb-23-09  vonKrolock: Topalov played 5.exd5 once - it seems that ♘xd4 not yet

jessicafischerqueen: Hello <Hoot>! I think <Kamsky> will win this tonight.
Feb-23-09  blacksburg: this doesn't seem like what topalov should be aiming for after 1.e4.
Feb-23-09  hoodrobin: You looks better.
Feb-23-09  whiskeyrebel: This is a bizarre situation. I suspected we wouldn't get through this match without some controversy.
Feb-23-09  octoberowl: lol badest!
Feb-23-09  blacksburg: <JFQ> oh, goodness :)
Feb-23-09  Eyal: Shipov still thinks Kamsky is playing White and Topalov Black. He's explaining why topalov decided to deviate from 1...e5, and that Kamsky's choice of 6.Bb5 is influenced by Sutovsky...

eternaloptimist: They've got their pictures on the wrong sides. Kamsky played white in the last game. That's interesting! Kamsky playing a French. It's a good decision on his part I think. It's as solid as a rock if u r familiar w/ the goals of it. I think Fischer had more trouble cracking it than any other response to 1.e4.

Mateo: By the way, some years ago, I was told there was a secret program from the CIA to recall the french defence freedom defence.
Feb-23-09  eisenherz: It seems Topalov abandoned 1 d4. Kamsky's Grunfeld was too solid.
Feb-23-09  Rawprawn: <who would have Adam and Eved it?> Which for benefit of our friends from across the pond and anywhere north of Watford, is Cockney rhyming slang for "believed it" :-)
Feb-23-09  ajile: d4 by Black would be interesting.
Feb-23-09  Babar47: Opening explorer suggests Nf6 Bc5 or Qa5 for black, they all seem very comfortable moves

Nigel Short: It is curious that this line appears to score very well for White. God only knows why. It looks like turgid stuff to me. 9...Bc5 is the most common, although that seems peculiar...
