Honza Cervenka: This game is a twin of Alapin vs Schiffers, 1879 with different, a bit longer, less elegant and slightly less probable, but not impossible interplay between position on diagram 1 and diagram 2.

The other game has there 25...Ra1 26.Qxd8 Rxe1+ 27.Kf2 Rxd8 28.Kxe1 Ra8 etc., instead of 25...Ra8 26.Qxd8 Raxd8 27.Re7 Rc8 28.Kf2 Rfe8 29.Re1 Rxe1 30.Kxe1 Ra8 etc. I don't know wich one is correct.

Dec-03-16  Christoforus Polacco: Pawn's endgame in the style of Magnus Carlsen :) Good job Mr Alapin !

Telemus: The game can be found in in the Chess Player's Chronicle 1879 (vol. III), p 83 and it supports the version on this page, I'd say. It is published there with Rosenthal's comments taken from "La Revue des Jeux".

jnpope: Chigorin gives the 25...Ra1 version in <Shakhmatny Listok>, n4, April 1879, pp104-105. This game has been corrected to that version.
