Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-19-09  OneArmedScissor: White gets 3 passed pawns, but it's not enough.

tamar: Vachier-LaGrave tried to tidy up his King position before sacrificing knight and rook, but Rybka on deep analysis found his best chance to be an equally remarkable double knight sacrifice immediately.

After 47 Nh4! gxh4 48 Nxf6 Rxf6

(the impish pawn push 48...h3!? just falls short after 49 Nxe8 h2 50 Rxa7 Bxa7 51 f6+ Rxf6+ 52 Kxe8 Ra1 2.16/28 )

White is down two pieces, but his Queen and rolling pawns dominate the Kside.

49...Rxa6 50 Qxf6+ Kd7 51 Qe6+ Kd8 52 Rxa6 Qb7 53 Qf6+ 1.82/26

Oct-30-12  FlintEastwood: Very interesting game! I guess the closed nature of the position flanks is what stops white from playing on. If he could bring the white bishop into the game he'd have some chances, but being a piece down and with his only other piece blocked out he has no way to break through.
Oct-30-12  Atking: Yes 47.Nh4! looks good and deep. Did someone test 47.Nxe5? At first sight dxN 48.d6+ Kxd6 49.Nxf6 Bc6 50.Qf8+ Qe7 51.Qb8+ may win But the position is so complex I will not be surprised if Black have a move here.
