Sep-30-25  mel gibson: I chose 24. .. Bxf2

Stockfish 17 agrees with me and says:

24. .. Bxf2

(24. .. Bxf2 (1. ... Bxf2 2.g3 Qf3 3.Bd1 Bxg3+ 4.Kg1 Bf2+ 5.Kh2 Qxh3+ 6.Kxh3 Rxc1 7.Kh2 Bxh4 8.Kg1 Bf6 9.Kf2 Rb1 10.Ke3 Bg5+ 11.Kf2 Rxb2+ 12.Kg3 Bf6 13.Re1 Rb1 14.Rf1 Kg7 ) +14.27/46 613)

score for Black +14.27 depth 46.

If I force SF to choose the game ply it is almost as good:

24. .. Rxc1

25. Rxc1 (25. Rxc1 (1.Rxc1 Qxf2 2.Rd1 Bxb2 3.d4 Bxd4 4.Qg3 Be5 5.Rd8+ Kh7 6.Rh8+ Kxh8 7.Qxe5+ Kh7 8.Qg5 c4 9.Bd1 Qf6 10.Qd2 Qxh4+ 11.Kg1 Qg3 12.Qe2 b4 13.Kf1 Qf4+ 14.Kg1 Qd4+ ) -10.61/42 648)

score for White -10.61 depth 42.

perfidious: A clever twist sees the trapper trapped in this sprightly POTD which strikes me as something more than Tuesday material, given all its finesses.

Sep-30-25  TheaN: Bleh. Saw <24....Rxc1 25.Rxc1 Qf4+ 26.Qg3> but assumed after <26....Qxc1?<>> 27.Qb8+ Kg7 28.Qxb7 Qf4 (Be5+ even better) -+ and Black should win easily, but missed <27.Qxg6+! =<>> completely. Bit involved for a Tuesday, spotting Rxc1 first and then not missing the sting in the tail in the form of Qxg6+.
