LIFE Master AJ: White's 24th is a killer. I would suggest that this would make a good Monday or Tuesday problem.

LIFE Master AJ: I think everything wins. (It was quick chess, I used a lot of time in the opening. So when I saw a simple win, I took it.)

LIFE Master AJ: One of the PCC (Pensacola Chess Club) members remarked that you arely see the Dutch carved up so badly.

LIFE Master AJ: <chancho> Good eye! I fired up Fritz 12 ... it agrees with you. 27.Nd8+! was crushing.

after 19...b5, black was deep in trouble giving up the f5 pawn.

LIFE Master AJ: <wordf...> I agree with you, 19...b5 was very ugly, very bad. (ANTI-POSITIONAL.)

LIFE Master AJ: It also cost Black his f-Pawn.
May-05-10  Oliphaunt: <Good eye! I fired up Fritz 12 ... it agrees with you. 27.Nd8+! was crushing.> Bad habit there. You are strong enough to see it within 5-10 seconds.

paulalbert: Nice game AJ. Liked Ng5, took me a few seconds for me to see the Bd5 threat. Paul Albert

Or quicker. Black has two replies that don't give up the queen for nothing. Kf8 is mate in one. Kh8 mate in three.

May-07-10  hedgeh0g: Was this a blitz game?

LIFE Master AJ: This was like "Game in 30" (maybe 45)

IF you have ever played at this time limit, then you will know that these games are often not perfect. Sometimes, you spend a lot of time on one move, and wind up huurying the rest of the game.

In my defense, I grew up (35+ years!) playing 1.e4, sometimes these 1.d4, positions feel like "a left shoe on a right foot." (I probably spent way too much time on the first 10-20 moves.)

All that aside, 27.Nd8+, represents a rather substantial over the actual game.

Thanks much, <chancho> finds a nice improvement.

I am happy that I played a solid game to beat a dangerous opponent, someone who has mangaged to defeat me a couple of times at rapid time controls. In my defense, I only had a minute or two at the end of the game, and was hurrying along, trying to make sure that I did not blow it.

Aug-10-11  rilkefan: I wondered about 19...f4 and on 20.Nb6 Bg4, looking to get pressure against f2 even at the cost of the a8 rook.
Dec-01-11  Bobsterman3000: Nice win AJ. I hate the Dutch, thanks for punishing it. lol
Dec-01-11  King Death: It's quite ironic to see <AJ>'s very first words on this game in view of this, over on his opponent's page:

Maybe he'll get out and add more of his games to the CG collection in 20 years or so. They'll have to free up a cell for somebody who has a baggie of dope or something.

Dec-01-11  TheFocus: They were arguing over what to watch on TV. Either <Dukes of Hazzard> or <Hee Haw>.

Yes. Fritz is quite superfluous. A glance at 27.Nd8+ shows that it is murderous - much like the player of the black pieces, apparently.

Jul-25-23  XCRImEBz: Late to the game but wish I would have seen it sooner. I would have been more prepared on how this move would have effect my life.
