Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-01-09  Whitehat1963: Why did Grischuk settle for a draw so early?
Dec-01-09  ounos: They want to settle this in the rapid tie-breaks:
D Jakovenko vs Grischuk, 2009
Dec-01-09  swordfish: Isn't Grischuk one of the best in the world at rapid and blitz? Seems risky for Jakovenko to play two short draws, but I guess we'll see.

Yes indeed. I'm surprised Jakovenko didn't play for a win with White in D Jakovenko vs Grischuk, 2009. Better to take some chances now, with White in a classical game, then to immediately opt for a rapid and blitz tiebreaker against someone as strong as Grischuk is in that format.

But anything can happen, especially with fast time controls. I'm rooting for Jakovenko.

Dec-01-09  slomarko: In the last world cup Jakovenko beat Aronian in the rapids so I think the chances are even here in rapids. But Grischuk would have an advantage in blitz.
