GrahamClayton: Landau sets a trap with 31. ♕f4; 31...♕xc4? 32. ♘xe6+ wins the Queen, but 31...g5! leads to White either being checkmated or losing the Queen.
Dec-20-12  thomastonk: <GrahamClayton> You surely meant 31.. Qxc4? 32.Nf5+. BTW, 31.. g5! is not the only refutation of 31.Qf4. Another one is 31.. Nf6, threatening amongst others 32.. Nh5+ and 32.. e5.

This game was played in the second round of a 4-player-event in Delft in February 1940. Landau had already lost in round 1 against Euwe, and so he needed a full point. Final standings: Kmoch 2.5 pts, Euwe 2 pts, van den Bosch 1.5 pts and Landau 0 pts.
