Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-04-10  ganstaman: This is a really cool game.

I first wondered about 32. Bxd5, but then 32...Bf5+! 33. gxf5 Rxe1+

Then, with 39...Rc3, black threatens to be stalemated, so white is forced to avoid capturing the rook if he wants to win.

I'm not sure why white wins in the final position, however, unless it's on time. After 46...bxc1=Q+ 47. Kxc1 it's stalemate still.

Apr-04-10  Gilmoy: Probably 46.Ba8 instead (and somebody misread the 8 for a 2).

Or any other square on the a8-h1 diagonal.

Apr-04-10  ganstaman: <Gilmoy: Probably 46.Ba8 instead (and somebody misread the 8 for a 2).>

Ah, I see. My guess is 46. Bg2, then, as I could more easily see them mistaking the 'g' for an 'a.' Thanks.

Apr-04-10  luzhin: This is completely crazy, if the game score is correct. First of all, after 39...Rc3 White simply captures: after 40.Rxc3 d1=Q 41.Rc8 is mate. Then, after 43...Ra1+, White can again capture the Rook, since after 44.Kxa1 a3 44.Be4 the stalemates are all off. And in the final position White can just play 46.Rc8 mate (not the ludicrous 46.Ba2--nor even Gilmoy's 46.Ba8)
Nov-23-10  Whitehat1963: Amazing game!
