GrahamClayton: 2.♗e2 is a very rare move, with only four games in the database. Greet had very little preparation time prior to the game, so he decided to avoid nearly 99.9% Sicilian theory!
Jan-21-11  BLarsen1967: <GrahamClayton> There was a Finnish guy,Martti Mujunen,he'd gladly play 2.Be2 all day long - here's an example:

FSR: The current issue of New in Chess (2015 #7) has an article advocating 2.Be2 as a way to begin implementing "The Big Clamp" (f4, Nf3, O-O, d3, c3, etc.). The present game is the first one in the database that employs 2.Be2 in that way. See also M Vavulin vs Xianliang Xu, 2015; V Fedoseev vs Yu Yangyi, 2015.
