Sep-28-11  sicilianhugefun: People consider Ivanchuk as eccentric, and obviously he is... this could be the reason why he also makes move that appears strange for average mortals but for an eccentric guy like chuky it provides him the touchdown.

FSR: This is like chess from another world.
Nov-05-11  sevenseaman: <FSR> <...chess from another world>! Agreed wholeheartedly.

<Jobava>'s attack was like a sexual assault. All game I was wondering where would <Chuky>'s own winning move come from. It looked so out of question.

Did I ever think it would be Ra8? I'd be lying if I said 'yes' to that.

A beauty that makes me <'chess-drunk'>!

Penguincw: Ivanchuk with all 4 minor pieces still on the board leads him to a victory.
Jan-15-12  Garech: One of my all time favourite Ivanchuk games; genius at work.

-Garech

Mar-25-12  Eduardo Bermudez: Fantastic chessgame !!
Jun-01-12  master of defence: Why not 32...Bxe2?
Jun-18-12  echector: 34...Ng2+ 35.Rxg2 hxg2 saves the queen, but Black is still lost.
Jul-30-12  andrewjsacks: Who says there's no room for creativity in chess anymore? Chess played-out? You must be kidding. Fischerrandom chess needed? Ha!
Aug-06-12  ajile: <Garech: One of my all time favourite Ivanchuk games; genius at work.>

Either that or extreme luck. Try this as White against someone like Aronian and see what happens. I mean seriously Black gets his queen stuck on WHITE'S first rank.

Sep-03-12  kia0708: game of the day, or rather game of the month

beautiful

Feb-04-13  kurodo77: I don't believe this game. Amazing Chuky....
Mar-18-13  chesssalamander: Great game by Ivanchuk! He lets Black get a killer attack, and gives up his Queen, and his King is trapped in the center. And then he wins!
Mar-18-13  solskytz: One can't help but think about old Steinitz with his crazy ideas in his later days, when watching this funny game. The guy stops at nothing - Offer the b6-g1 diagonal, wide open, not move the Ng1 out of danger, then sacrifice the queen, undevelop his forces, get them out from the flank, playing dxc6 and opening up the position still further against his own king...

What a frustrating experience this must have been for Jobava!

Mar-18-13  solskytz: ...And then that final move! Just to complete the joke. So Chucky!
Jul-08-13  johnliu: rel is a bad move because he lost a knight and a pawn
Jan-18-14  kia0708: UNUSUAL GAME ....
and so ENTERTAINING !!!

FSR: I had completely forgotten (and still don't recall) having seen this game before. I don't know how that's possible. Hope I'm not going senile.
Jan-18-14  AsosLight: I feel the same FSR. I recalled this game when I saw 3.f3 but once I got my memory back I panicked that I am losing my brains. How was it possible that I had forgot this one. It is so absurd that looks like it was staged, maybe this is the reason my brain somehow skipped it.
Mar-06-14  Whitehat1963: So unusual! So incredible!
Apr-02-14  Ed Frank: I've never seen this game before.

You can imagine: I'm throwing my hands up in awe and frustration. A fantasy indeed: Chuky is an alien.

Aug-11-14  Ke2: awesome awesome game
Jan-14-16  onur87: what a brave play by GM Ivanchuk! As a Turkish Glad to know he likes Türkiye.
Sep-10-16  Finnishplayer: Chucky still got it!!
Nov-17-16  Saniyat24: What unbelievable and impenetrable defense by Ivanchuk...Baadur played spiritedly, but White had all the answers. The position reached at the end is truly out of the world!
