Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-06-11  bezzazz: Ridiculous that a GM overlooked a mate!
Jan-06-11  apexin: 42..Rg7 was better but maybe not enough
to save black
Jan-06-11  Ulhumbrus: In the position after 23 Rfe1 Black's QB is a part of the solidity of Black's formation, if we imagine this bishop doing the work of a pawn as well as that of a bishop, and if White plays Bxc6, this allows the recapture ...bxc6 removing a weakness from b7. This suggests that instead of 23..Bxg2, a better alternative is 23...Ng4-f6 making the first move of the manoeuvree Ng4-f6-d7-c5.

24...d5 gets the B on e5 pinned and allows the capture Nxd4 winning a pawn for White.

Jan-06-11  Mulyahnto: 42. ... Rg7; 43. Ne6 Game over as white must lose the queen. Giving up the mate was a simple resignation. I think 42. ... Nf7 43. Ne6 Qe5 44. Qxe5 Nxe5 45. Nf8+ followed by Nxd7 and Rxb7 is also lost.
Jan-06-11  Mulyahnto: 42. ... Nf7 43. Ne6 Qe5 44. Nf8+ Kg8 45. Nxg6+ Kh7 is quicker for white.
