Mar-20-11  anandrulez: qf4 was the first blunder and then Anand played the final blunder of bxh3 . I think he allowed Aronian to take seriously good outpost on b6 and avoided nd7 to trade the knight . not the best effort from wc

A combination of <DECOY INTO PIN> against the <UNDEFENDED> Black d8-rook and <LINE CLOSING> of the d-file from the <PROTECTING> Black d8-rook and the crtical Black d2-passer.

Aronian is surely the strongest <TACTICAL> player in the world.

Does anyone know if Anand overlooked the tactical sequence beginning with 38 ... ♗e6xh3? ?

Thanks

chancho: Looks like Aronian knows the secret on how to beat Anand. It's been almost four years since Vishy took the full point from Levon.
Mar-21-11  kurtrichards: I gave to you...and you give to me...What is the color when black is burned? what is the color?
Mar-21-11  Ulhumbrus: 23...d3 does not answer White's attack on the b7 pawn. This suggests developing Black's QB to c6.

Moreover after 15 0-0 Black's pawn majority is on the King side and this suggests that his attacking prospects lie there. This also suggests developing the Black QB to c6 via d7.

If after 15...e5 Black will lack sufficient time to develop his QB to c6 because of the threat of Nb6, this suggests the alternative of 15..Bd7.

However the suggestion does not have to be right, because Black has however at least on other alternative.

After 15...e5 16 Na4 an alternative to 16...Be6 is 16...Bxb2 17 Qxb2 Bf5 so that on 18 Nb6 Rxd1 19 Rxd1 Re8 Black will not need the square c8- which the N on b6 attacks - for use by a Rook .

Mar-21-11  zanza: Very impressive... Aronian is really over the top!!
Mar-22-11  paavoh: @kurtrichards <...What is the color when black is burned? what is the color?>

He-he, you can't be 20 - no, strike that - for Anand, you can't be 41 on Sugar Mountain.

Nov-04-11  M.D. Wilson: I've said for some time that Aronian is the most gifted player of his era; certainly up there with Spassky and Karpov in terms of pure chess talent. It's no surprise that he has the wood over Anand, who has not played enterprising chess for any sustained period, if any, since becoming WC. The psychological element is vastly important. Korchnoi crushed Tal for decades, but I think Tal was more talented. Maybe Korchnoi was always objectively stronger, even though he didn't become WC?
