Jan-09-19  RookFile: I guess these guys were evenly matched at this point in Reshevsky's career. They played each other 7 times, every one of them being drawn.

  sakredkow: Seems like there weren't ever going to be any fireworks in this game - like a GM draw tacitly agreed to before it started. Maybe I'm wrong.

This old Chigorin opening is really interesting. I'm sure it's good for club play but is it bad now at the GM level, too drawish, or just out of fashion?

  perfidious: Games such as Geller vs Smyslov, 1970 and Karpov vs Spassky, 1973 contributed to the decline of this main line Chigorin, as well as a rise in popularity of, inter alia, the Breyer (9....Nb8) by the early 1970s. The Chigorin has actually undergone something of a revival at GM level in recent years.
