perfidious: <cehertan> annotated this game in the October-November 1987 issue of Chess Horizons, noting that it was a hard-fought battle where both sides (especially he) missed chances.

For my part, 14.Bd2 was stronger than the move I played, which forces ....e5, but leaves the bishop little to do.

Jul-28-14  MarkFinan: Just went through this game Perf and I think 38..Bg7 wins a piece. A lot of mistakes made on both sides but particularly your opponent because he keeps throwing winning positions away. Good game though, bit confusing because I only looked through fairly quickly and without the engine.
Jul-28-14  Bobby Spassky: Dear MarkFinan,

<< I think 38..Bg7 wins a piece. >>

Yes, but for white with nxc4

perfidious: Looking at this game again, many years on, I cannot imagine what possessed me to play 14.Bb2.

  fredthebear: Perhaps it was 11.b4.
