At board 1 Mr. Brocklebank had the move against Mr. Higgs. He offered the King's Gambit, which Mr. Higgs declined, playing 2 P to Q 4. Mr. Brocklebank took off the queen's pawn, to which Mr. Higgs rejoined with P to K 5. The sixth round in the major tourney of the Chess Congress was played to-day. Brocklebank had a move against Higgs, being offered king's gambit, which Higgs declined. Higgs was compelled to resign at the 35th move.> Play will be resumed on Monday morning.>
