bright1: Nice shot by White on move 26.
Apr-17-24  mel gibson: I saw that straight away.

Stockfish 16 says:

score for White +9.37 depth 37.

takebackok: Easy spot 26 Nf6+ gxf6 27 Qxf6 now take your pick it's all bad & going to end quick.
Apr-17-24  jffun1958: 26.Nf6+ gxf6 27.Qxf6 Rfe8 28. Bxe5
and B has to give the Q to avoid being mated on g7 or h8 by the wQ:
28. ... Qxe5 29.Qxe5
Apr-17-24  Mayankk: Easiest puzzle of the week.

26 Nf6+ is a Royal fork and so 26 ... gxf6 27 Qxf6 is forced. Now White is threatening 28 Bxe5 and 29 Qg7# as well as 28 Bxd5. Its hard to find any play for Black from here. Simply too many threats.

scormus: 26 Nf6+ is crushing. B could justifiably have resigned right away.
Apr-17-24  saturn2: Black is up an exchange and after the gameline it is a full rook. But anyway it is hopeless with the long diagonal weak and the queen attacked.
Apr-17-24  cocker: Easier than yesterday's; only one move to consider.
Apr-17-24  TheaN: The difficulty in this puzzle is spotting the innate material difference, thus the text <26.Nf6+ gxf6> gives up a rook, not a piece. Mind that Black cannot decline, not because of the fork but because of Qh5#.

After <27.Qxf6> it's curtains, because whilst White is down a rook, the triple pressure (Qd5, Ne5, g7/h8) cannot the solved. I thought <27....Qd8> would still hold for a while, but <28.Qxe5 f6 29.Qxe6+ Kg7 30.Qf5 +-> with Be4 coming is absolutely terrible to play for Black as the bishops dominate the board left right and center.

Apr-17-24  thegoodanarchist: I found Nf6+ gxf6 Qxf6, gaining the knight plus a mating attack.

benveniste: The Exchange Sac seems unsound. Black's losing move was 23 ... ♕d5?
Apr-18-24  FM David H. Levin: <<benveniste>: The Exchange Sac seems unsound. Black's losing move was 23 ... ♕d5?>

I would agree that the exchange sack shouldn't win by force. But it seems to me that White has at least sufficient compensation owing to his extra pawn, Black's weaknesses at c6 and g5, and Black's difficulty in formulating a constructive plan.
