Kibitzer's Corner
May-11-12  Jason Frost: Doesn't look like opening the h-file was a good idea for black.
May-11-12  Marmot PFL: What choice did he have? The black queen was trapped.
May-11-12  Jason Frost: <Marmot PFL> 31...Bf5 looks good, and 32. Ne3 is met with 32...Nxe5
May-11-12  Marmot PFL: I see what u mean, but 31...Bf5 32 Rh1 Qg4+ 33 Qxg4 hg4 (33...Bxg4 34 f3 wins) 34 Bd3 Bxd3 35 Rxd3 than Kg3, Kxg4 etc.
May-11-12  Jason Frost: <Marmot PFL> Nice, I was going to play 34. f3 Be6 with the double pin, but I guess that just gets black mated. Too tired to engine, maybe Hess had already gone bust before.
May-11-12  Poisonpawns: GM`s have found Hess` weakness this tourney. No doubt Robson liked what he saw in the Nakamura-Hess game in the previous round, and decided to test 3..Bc5 again. This time with 4.c3 instead of Evans gambit. Needless to say, Hess has some work to do, because he is really getting hammered in these lines.
May-12-12  luzhin: If 34...Bf7 then 35.Rxc6! is killing. It's not clear to me why Hess didn't take the gambit pawn with 7...Nxe4.
May-12-12  Marmot PFL: 7...Nxe4 is logical, maybe black was afraid of some prepared line. 8...Qe7+ looks like another good line, either trading queens or white gives up castling, or else 9 Be2 Nxd5.

GrahamClayton: Is 7.♘bd2 the newest idea for White in this line?
