MissScarlett: Presumably the F W Whitehead who played Capablanca in a Sheffield simul.

gezafan: How does black win? The position looks equalish.

Was it a complete score?

perfidious: This game was probably adjudicated, a practice which was continued in Britain into the 1970s and which I even saw in my earliest days of tournament play in America (1972-73).

  Sally Simpson: Hi Pperfidious,

I thought of that as well unless a report on the event adds Black went onto win and because Rubinstein was coming around quicker White was outplayed and the remaining moves were not recorded.

Skip through the game did you spot the shot that Black missed on move 18....?

It leaps out at you, certainly had me pausing, the more you look at it the better it gets. Clue: move the Knight, then the c5-pawn and the White Queen is very short of squares.
