  fredthebear: I played 19.BxNe7+ (it does not matter which piece captures) and followed the same line, reaching a Max Lange Mate of sorts.

Black could have played 17...hxNg6 instead, dropping the Black queen next to avoid immediate mate, but what's the fun in that? Well, Black does have enough pieces remaining to last awhile.
