Aug-30-12  fcsca: woao, muchas piezas en el tablero...
Aug-30-12  Shams: <fcsca> Yes, very rare to resign when only one pair of pawns has left the board!

I'm not sure which pawn break Black's game needed, but 22...b5 was not it.

Aug-30-12  Calar: Can someone explain why Black resigned? It seems she has unpleasant position, but I see no immediate threats from White.

HeMateMe: Maybe Natalie will take a moment later on to explain the position. Could be a botched game score, or some sort of forfeit.

It looks like black must play 25...B-a8 to avoid losing material. White might play 26.N-d6...R-d8, N(a5)-b7 and black will lose the exchange, the Rook on d8 is trapped.

Nice positional squeeze. Never let your finchettoed bishop get blocked in by an unmoveable pawn.

Natalia Pogonina: Black lost on time in a strategically hopeless position.
Sep-01-12  Luigi Bros: I hate owen defense!

For white´s i think: 3.Bc4 g6 4.Nf3 Bg7 5.Nc3 Nf6 6.e5 Nd5 7. Nxe5 e6 8.Bg5! The attack is more destructive, but of course, maybe the black take other way for the white bishop in c4.

Sep-06-12  kudzi tsuro: I think black resigned cause theyz a threat on Nd6 and black light squared Bishop is traped with no scope, black pieces a also crowded with no other room to move and i also beleive tyme time waz not on her side

I found it humorous that Ms. Acuna accepted what I sometimes jokingly call the “Pogonina bishop” (The World vs N Pogonina, 2010, 17...Ba8) against the master of that move. Obviously Ms. Pogonina knows better than the World Team how to “counter” that maneuver. Or maybe it simply works better in a correspondence-type game than OTB. :-)

And with games like this one you may need to consider a second, alternate user name, <SheMateMe>. :-)

Oct-11-12  Samidm: :I okay I had been feeling too bad about that game, but comon! I'm not a good chessplayer and she is Natalia Pogonina :). And in that position I was wrong, even if my time wasn't over in that moment, I was resigned... P.d it was a pleasure to play with you Natalia :) thanks :D

OhioChessFan: Can I gently suggest you give up the Owen? It's not working. As for not being good, anyone good enough to face Pogo is better than the vast majority of people on this site.
