Stonehenge: 35...Be3 threatens mate. White should have played 36. f4, 36. g5 was a bad move.
Dec-05-12  thomastonk: Hello, <Stonehenge>! Nice to meet you here. I think you are right: 36.f4 is better than 36.g5. But maybe the difference is small, and the real mistake is 37.f4?, after which we see nice technique by Euwe.

Instead White has 37.Kh3! This looks murky, but please try to improve this line: 37.Kh3 Lf4 38.Rh1 Bxg5 39.Bxf7 Bd2 40.Bg6.

I think White can hold this position.

Stonehenge: Thanks, I think it's quite a difficult endgame.
Dec-05-12  thomastonk: <Stonehenge> Meanwhile I have checked the old newspapers. The game was published several times, and at least two times with comments. First, on March 4th, 1927 (the day after the the games was played) with a few comments in "Algemeen Handelsblad". I think the chess editor there was B Van Trotsenburg, and he prefers 36.f4 like you did. Much more comments can be found in the "Nieuwsblad van het Noorden", March 16, 1929, but there is no hint for 36.f4.
