Jan-09-13  EvanTheTerrible: 7.Bg2!! is the correct annotation! Wow, what a novelty! How does this not have more attention?
Jan-09-13  Jim Bartle: Because it was played against a fish?
Jan-09-13  Gilmoy: In fact, this game is theory (with 2 transpositions that cancel out) through <19.Bxe5>. The usual line goes 5..cxd4 6.Nxd4 instead of at <8,9>. Black is already in trouble: after 8..Nxc3 (or <7..> here), White scores +7=1-0 in this database.

White's K-side attack is just too fast, 4-on-1. R Wojtaszek vs Hracek, 2011 diverged with <19..Re8>, but still got buried.

Jan-09-13  Nilsson: As I comment in that game, I think 18...Qe7 is better.
Aug-19-15  ColeTrane: ...like a fish outta water....
Aug-19-15  nilanjanasm: 23. Bxg7

To say the truth, black had good advantage in this position. Instead of 23.... Re6??, he could have plAyed the move Bf5!

Aug-19-15  nilanjanasm: I don't even understand why he resigned. He would have still got high advantage

offramp: <The Picture of Dorian Grey> was a crappy short story by Oscar Wilde. It was made into a film with George Sanders. The best part of the film is the painting by Ivan Albright.

There could be a totally different pun somewhere here; there is a fish called a John Dory.

Dec-06-24  James Keziah Delaney: Nilanjanasm white have two pawns more

offramp: How about, <Dorian Had a Colossal Nilanjanasm >.
Dec-06-24  mrknightly: Not sure how the pun or the game relates to "The Picture of Dorian Gray." I googled "Dorian White," and all I got was a news story about a guy named Dorian White from Grove City, OH (USA), who stabbed a woman 20 times. P.S. "The Picture of Dorian Gray" was written as a novel, and published both as a novel and a novella.
Dec-06-24  Arlekhino: <Dec-06-24 offramp: <The Picture of Dorian Grey> was a crappy short story by Oscar Wilde.>

Actually it is a novel. And a highly praised one (deservedly so, IMHO).
