Dec-18-12  charms: 50. Rxg5? was the straw that broke the camel's back. White had a miracle save at her hands by 50. ♖a3+ ♖d3 51. ♖a2 g4+ (what else?) 53. ♔g3 ♔e2 54. ♖a2+ ♔f1 55. h3!

OhioChessFan: <Charms> You have an illegal move with Ke2 since the White Rook is already on the second rank. The fact you don't have a 52nd move suggests you combined two different lines.

I came up with:
50. Ra3+ Rd3 51. Ra2 g4+ 52. Kg3 Rd1 53. Ra3+ Ke4 54. Ra4+ Ke3 etc Black has to stay in the vicinity of e2 to help the f Pawn advance, that is, if the Black King moves to the 5th rank, gxf4 =, so I think it's drawn.

Looking at the game, missing Ra3+ is surprising for a player of Kosteniuk's caliber, even in a rapid. It's a pretty natural move. 50. ? would make a decent POTD, maybe a Wednesday.

Dec-18-12  charms: Thanks for pointing that out. My bad. I intented to give your line, but omitted a pair of moves here: 50. ♖a3+ ♖d3 51. ♖a2 g4+ (what else?) 52. ♔g3 ♖d1 53. ♖a3+ ♔e2 54. ♖a2+ ♔f1 55. h3! Of course, your line is correct in so far as White can hold the draw there. Maybe it is noteworthy that 50... Kf2 fails to the stalemate trick 51. Rxf3+!.
Dec-21-12  vinidivici: OMG!!!

I want to spend all knights with these queens.
