Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-03-13  Whitehat1963: Where did white first begin to lose this one?
Jun-03-13  Gilmoy: I thought <44.a4> was the first stumble. White loses the Ka4-Kb5 penetration for possible mayhem, which downgrades his K-walk tempi investment. Then his K is actually exposed, "forced" to step into the pin on c.

Possibly <35.g5> is already too commital: indirectly it ties down White's N to prevent R penetrations on g. Then Black has the elegant K+B vs R endgame dance to eventually cut and win the h-pawn.

OhioChessFan: I agree that a4 was a serious unforced error. White cut his own King off from penetrating the Queenside. I don't know that g5 was bad. I am skeptical recapturing with the Knight instead of the h Pawn was best.

OhioChessFan: Well, Fritz likes a4. I don't see the point at all. Anyway, he says 47. c4 is the problem move, Rf7 or Rf6 both evaling about 0.
