Apr-25-13  chessdgc2: DcGentle: Thanks for the update on the tournament results...the win over Moro is a big one for Gata!
Apr-25-13  DcGentle: Strange that White let Black win a surplus pawn. Should not change the outcome, I guess.
Apr-25-13  Marmot PFL: Not unless Pono can checkmate with a knight.
Apr-25-13  chessdgc2: Yes, it could still be a draw, but it's as ugly as my girlfriend for White
Apr-25-13  Pedro Fernandez: <DcGentle: Strange that White let Black win a surplus pawn. Should not change the outcome, I guess. > Because the check in f3 if Ke5.

After having the lead for most of the game, and now seeing it fizzled away, he may be desperate to try!

Apr-25-13  DcGentle: <Pedro Fernandez>: Well, yes, of course, but White was not forced to play 49. Ke2.
Apr-25-13  haydn20: Seems to me (superficially) that Black missed some tactical chances between moves 30 & 40. I'm still kinda stuck on 23...c3 which I can't find a good solution to for White.
Apr-25-13  chessdgc2: White's runnin out of BS and will be forced to retreat...what then?
Apr-25-13  russsshurig: I mean Tops knows a thing or two about defense.

i was surprised at that too. I expected Ne3 Ke5 Ng2 or something like that

Apr-25-13  DcGentle: <haydn20>: You are right, <23... c3> looks interesting.
Apr-25-13  Strongest Force: These two like each other?
Apr-25-13  chessdgc2: russsshdurig: Uh, Tops needs to know a thing or two about defense, he's only got a thing or two on the board :)
Apr-25-13  DcGentle: And now nobody wants to offer a draw.
Apr-25-13  DcGentle: Maybe Black is dreaming of winning White's last pawn, but this will stay a dream.

PawnSac: If white does not take Ne5 i wonder if Pono will try Nxg4! i mean, it would be impossible to lose, and there would be winning chances!

<LMBO>

Apr-25-13  chessdgc2: I don't know if Topa wants to offer a draw or not, but I'd bet you my life's savings ($20) that Topa would accept a draw offer!
Apr-25-13  DcGentle: <PawnSac> Well seriously, it's not funny, this could happen:

Black to move can win in 14 according to the endgame table bases.

Apr-25-13  DcGentle: But draw agreed.
Apr-25-13  Pedro Fernandez: Good dance between kings and their horses.
